To celebrate the addition of Esther Mahlangu’s latest Art Car to BMW's collection, we collaborated with the renowned South African artist, who in 1991 became the first woman and African artist to participate in BMW’s prestigious Art Car series with her painted BMW 525i, later raced in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Our task was to design a space that would showcase Esther’s work and a curated selection from actor and art collector Russell Tovey, all built around the centerpiece: the new BMW i7. Inspired by Tovey's apartment where he blends art with interior design. I crafted an inviting setting with soft off-white walls, warm brown accents, and exposed wood and brick, where each artwork could stand out.
The BMW i7 added an element of sophistication to the space, aligning its sleek lines and modern aesthetics with Tovey’s vision. By enhancing the gallery with premium materials and textures, we elevated the overall atmosphere to be both luxurious and warmly approachable, perfectly merging art and automotive design.
